Kyūzō was a nearly silent and mysterious samurai. He was, together with Hyōgo, a bodyguard for Ayamaro. In that role, he initially fought with Kambei Shimada. He is voiced by Shinichiro Miki in the Japanese version and voiced by Sonny Strait in the English version.
Appearance
Kyūzō was a young man with a skinny and tall build, pale skin, and thick blond hair. He wore a red uniform over black clothing and boots, and he carried dual swords for weapons.
Overview
He later joined the group with the stated intent of saving Kambei's life so that he could later fight Kambei to the death. Moreover, Kyūzō is an incredibly skilled fighter, wielding double blades that fit into one sheath on his back. He was accidentally killed by Katsushirō when the latter used a gun to protect Kambei because his sword was broken. Rather than showing anger to Katsushirō or regret of his own life, he instead expressed his anticipation of fighting Kambei in the afterlife. He is the sixth samurai.
